Former vice President and PDP 2019 presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has congratulated the governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki on his joining the People Democratic Party (PDP).
Obaseki who was an APC member during his first tenure as governor of Edo state has decamped to the opposition party (PDP) after he was denied a governorship ticket by the former APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomole to contest for second tenure for Edo governor seat.
It was recalled that Oshiomole, just some few days after he denied Obaseki ticket, was also removed as the national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC)
On his joining PDP, Obaseki was congratulated by Atiku Abubakar.
Atiku shared this congratulatory message on his Twitter handle today.
“Congratulations, @GovernorObaseki on joining our party, @OfficialPDPNig—the truly people’s party. I am confident that the people of Edo State will be the better for it. You are indeed coming aboard a repositioned PDP that promotes good governance for the benefit of Nigerians. -AA”, Atiku twitted.
In response to his twitted, Obaseki said;
“I have officially joined the @OfficialPDPNig to advance my ambition to seek re-election as Governor of Edo State.
I, as always, remain committed to engendering good governance and sustainable development of our dear state”.
