Top 50 Universities in Nigeria 2020

Nigerian universities over the years have received a series of criticism for not being able to compete in terms of standard with universities of other nations of the world.

It is no doubt that none of Nigerian universities made it to top ten universities in the world, this bad development is attributed to the level of bad governance over the years.

Although Nigeria has the first advanced learning institution in Africa but that glory was not maintained, and that has led to the current standard of our Nation’s universities.

Due to the early discovery of oil in Nigeria, Nigeria managed to spread Federal universities across all the 36 states of the federation including the FCT Abuja.

Aside from the federal universities in Nigeria, each state has their own state university; also there are numerous private universities in Nigeria, several colleges of education and polytechnics.

There is no state in Nigeria that will not boast of at least two universities, but most of these universities lack some important qualities, these have made many Nigerians to travel to other nations to further their education.

It is unfortunate that as much as Nigerians love to be doctors, engineers, nurses, architects, etc, Nigerian universities are not able to meet international standards for Nigerians to bring out the best in them.

Although there are over 100 universities in Nigeria “both private and public”, yet every year Nigerians find it difficult to gain admission.

Although it is said that Nigerian universities are not of quality standard, yet Nigerians are best doctors, nurses, pharmacists, engineers among other professions in other countries of the world.

This is not because they studied outside the country, it is because Nigerians are very intelligent, that even in what some people called the worst academic background, Nigerians managed to showcase their potential.

Imagine if Nigerian universities are built and equipped to the international standard, then Nigeria will be the best professionals in all fields you can think of.

Nigerian universities may not rank among top ten in the world but there are best universities in Nigeria that can beat many institutions in Africa and even many in European nations.

If online our leaders had invested much in first institutions in Nigeria like University of Ibadan UI and others, this story would have been a different one.

What are your thoughts?

As much as  our universities are not 100% okay, that should not make you give up on Nigeria higher learning institutions. All the universities listed above are very good if you think of going to university.

If other Nigerians can graduate from these schools and become professional across the globe then I think these universities are good.

Also; as much as you would want to go to university, it is good you make the right choice of institution.

Some time ago I came across some students who complained of how their university is not what they think of before they applied for admission, but the truth is that most of these never at all make research to know which are the best universities in Nigeria.

For this reason, I took my time to make research about the standard of Nigerian universities so that it will enable Nigerians to make right choice of institution.Drop your Comments, your reactions and your feelings about Nigerian universities at the comment section below. Thank!
